THE MANAGEMENT OF FEEDING, DRINKING AND RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS IN CHILDREN WITH CEREBRAL PALSY AND RELATED CONDITIONS |
| Description |
This course is open to therapists who have completed the 8-week basic NDT/Bobath course.
The emphasis will be on the use of the ICF framework in assessment and intervention plus setting Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) in paediatric rehabilitation. Various assessment protocols will be evaluated in terms of usefulness as outcome measures in support of evidence-based practice. Participants will engage in problem solving complex cases and in refining practical handling skills aimed at impacting respiratory function, eating and drinking. Inter- and transdisciplinary management of the targeted problems will form part of workshops, discussions and problem solving.
The course will be accredited attendance certificates and CPD points.

| Description |
This one week Introductory Course is aimed at physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists working with children with cerebral palsy in clinics, public service hospitals or institutions. The course is specifically targeted at community service therapists and junior therapists. This course aims at helping therapists to effectively assess and manage children with cerebral palsy within a busy public service setting.
